About Me

Hi, I’m Jeana. I’ve been taking photographs for as long as I can remember, although my first great artistic achievement was probably something involving a Polaroid camera, a badly framed tree and far too much confidence.
The photograph that really started all of this was Ansel Adams’ The Tetons and the Snake River. I found it as a child in a small-town library back home in Minnesota and was completely hooked. I’d never been to Wyoming, but somehow that image made me feel like I had.
That idea has stayed with me ever since.
I love the way a photograph can hold a place still; not just what it looked like, but what it felt like to be there. The light, the quiet, the weather, the small detail that made you stop and pay attention.
Where The Trees Grow is a collection of those moments: windswept hills, tangled woodland, old buildings, flowers, coastlines, changing seasons and, unsurprisingly, quite a lot of trees.
I hope something here makes you stop for a second. Maybe it reminds you of somewhere you’ve been, makes you want to go somewhere new, or simply makes you think, I’d like to be there.
Thanks for wandering in.
Jeana - Still photographing trees. At this point, we should probably call it a theme.
For more than the gallery
Instagram is where I share the photographs that don’t always make it onto the website, along with the stories, thoughts and occasional small existential ramble that come with them.
Not everything is available to buy, but I’d argue it’s still worth a look. And possibly a read; I do rather fancy myself a writer. Bet you couldn’t tell…
